Why I switched from Manjaro back to Fedora
As many of you know, I used to be an avid supporter of Manjaro. Recently, it did an update and now, my WIFI doesn't work. That happens sometimes, but it's usually fixable. This time, it wasn't. To top it all off, the system became unstable. While I think Arch is a great linux distro and Manjaro built on that flawlessly, I feel like, almost two years in, it's just not for me. I feel more at home with Fedora.
DNF5 - One of the reasons I left Fedora is because of DNF4. It was so slow. It took hours sometimes to get things done. I love how fast DNF has become. DNF5 is a welcome addition to Fedora that not only improved reliability, but speed as well.
BTRFS - EXT4 is a wonderful file system, a Linux powerhouse and the backbone of many distributions. However, BTRFS is so good. Fast, capable and recovers from issues easily.
RedHat - Some people don't like RedHat for what they did to CENTOS. That's a reasonable reaction and it is a valid point of anger. However, don't take it out on Fedora. It's a different world, and I think Fedora is a great fit for many people.
Linus Torvalds - Love him or hate him, he created Linux, and he uses Fedora because he wants to work on the code and have his computer stay out of his way. That's why he uses Fedora.
KDE - KDE Plasma is gorgeous and breathtaking on any distro. However, it looks exceptionally good on Fedora. Windows users will feel right at home.
Older computers - I have an early 2009 macbook running 4GB of RAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo. Fedora runs just fine using XFCE.
Give Fedora a try. You'll like it if you do, trust me. I switched back and I'm staying here.
